It was announced on Monday that London lawyer Karen Farman has been appointed head of legal for Investec Trust (Guernsey) Limited.
Based in London, Ms Farman had worked as part of Investec Trust’s legal team for the past two years on a wide range of matters, including trust law and documentation, tax issues and corporate transactions.
She was also involved in providing training to staff across the various jurisdictions in which the Investec Group operates (Jersey, Guernsey, Mauritius, Switzerland, the UK and South Africa) in respect of relevant current issues (for example the implementation of the European Union Savings Tax Directive in Jersey and Guernsey and the implications of the UK’s Finance Act 2006).
Investec Trust’s Richard Williams suggested that the transfer of Ms Farman to Guernsey reflected the considerable growth within the business.
“Karen has been working closely with our Guernsey trust company over the past year and her transfer reflects the considerable growth within the Guernsey business in past months with a need to increase the internal legal support team,” he stated, continuing:
“We are committed to ensuring we act as professional trustees working within regulatory and risk frameworks for the benefit of our clients and Karen’s move to Guernsey will help with the smooth delivery of internal legal advice.”
