Invesco GT Launches Worldwide Dynamic Theme Fund

Invesco GT has launched a new fund incorporating its established Global Growth Fund in a bid to mirror the success of its UK-based unit trust - the Global Dynamic Theme Fund. Entitled the Invesco GT Worldwide Dynamic Theme Fund, it is designed to disregard the confines of geographical borders and looks at the best long-term investing opportunities available around the world.

A press release from Invesco explains the company's philosophy: 'The world is no longer the series of distinct countries and economies that it was 100 years ago. Rapid political and social changes have given rise to a global consumer society where the fortunes of the countries, industries and companies are more dependent on global trends than simple domestic concerns ... Thematic investing through the Invesco GT Worldwide Dynamic Theme Fund aims to look beyond national boundaries to identify opportunities for growth wherever they occur. Some of the most exciting opportunities for investors are being created by global trends such as globalisation, technological innovation, falling barriers, demographic change and lifestyle choice.'

The fund draws its investment strategy from six themes: healthcare, technology, energy, financial services, leisure and telecommunications. The companies contained within the six Invesco themes are of various sizes from small cap to large cap and represent 82 per cent of the world market and no more than 3 per cent of the fund is invested in any one company.

The fund, available to offshore investors, is domiciled in Luxembourg and registered in offshore jurisdictions including Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland and Jersey as well as some Western European countries and South Africa. 'The real advantage,' states Invesco, 'is that [the fund] allows you to buy the stocks you like without being constrained by borders. It also does not mean that you must have exposure to a country just because it is part of a world index, it means that you can have exposure if you have found stocks there that you like. With an extensive team of portfolio managers and analysts around the world we know what is happening when it happens and we have people there to capture an opportunity when it is presented.'
