The Inland Revenue this week sealed its ASPIRE contract (Acquiring Strategic Partners For the Inland Revenue) with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young which will see the firm taking over the Revenue's IT contract from American-based EDS in the summer of 2004.
“The ASPIRE contract has initially been awarded for 10 years during which time the Inland Revenue faces a period of unparalleled change in the nature of its business, and in the expectations of its customers,” the Revenue said in a statement.
“The next challenge for the Department, working closely with CGE&Y and the current incumbent suppliers, EDS and Accenture, is to ensure a smooth and successful transition between January and June 2004. The Board of the Inland Revenue has brought together a senior team to oversee and assist with this transition to ensure that current systems and ongoing projects are not jeopardised in any way.” the IR added
Commenting on the result of the recent contract tender, Sir Nicholas Montagu, Chairman of the Inland Revenue, said: "I am delighted with the outcome of this competition. It has been genuinely tough and fair throughout, and we had to decide between extremely strong bids from all three of the consortia whom we originally shortlisted.”
The new contract is expected to commence from July 2004.
