Personal income tax collections have almost doubled in Indonesia during the first quarter, according to the country's Finance Ministry.
Overall tax collections in the country are up nearly 2% on the figures recorded in the same period of last year, with the biggest contributor to the rise coming from increased income tax collections.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the rise in this particular kind of tax collection can be attributed to greater efforts to crack down on tax evasion and tax department corruption.
Total tax collections for the first three months of this year topped IDR113.7tn (USD10.23bn) compared to the IDR111.6tn collected the year before.
