The Isle of Man's ambitions to become an e-commerce hub received a boost recently when local independent network consultancy, Synapse Consulting, which has just celebrated its second anniversary, said it was expanding due to the increased demand for e-business projects in the Isle of Man
Synapse was set up in the Isle of Man to deliver e-business and security solutions, and has predominantly worked with blue chip companies in the finance sector as technology partners on large scale e-business developments. The aim of its founders was to create an IT consultancy based on experience and expertise directly relating to local needs. Its consultants have all worked on the Isle of Man for many years in IT consultancy roles and therefore understand the Island's core industries, in particular those associated with the finance sector.
The company’s e-business services are designed to assist companies improve their competitive position by simplifying the development, integration, deployment and management of enterprise application systems; to reach potential customers; and to offer current customers innovative services online. To maximise its success, Synapse has formed a strategic relationship with Computer Associates (CA), a leading software vendor, which entitles Synapse to use CA’s consultants and products for its e-business projects.
Synapse has repeatedly stressed how crucial the Internet is for local businesses, and how important it is to have a well-defined e-commerce strategy. It says that Isle of Man companies failing to address these issues may find that other offshore jurisdictions offering similar services become more appealing to customers. Synapse said in a statement: 'Being at the forefront of business trends will require planning and commitment from companies. Investing in e-business and security projects will often be required to bring about the returns on investment required for future success. Synapse has set itself a goal to work with companies to assist them to reach their business goals and thus prosper in the future.
