Immigration On The Agenda For Cayman Islands - Not!

by Carla Johnson, Investors Offshore.com, London

10 January 2008

Immigration Week, which will highlight the important role of the Immigration Department in the development of the Cayman Islands, will take place from 20 - 25 January.

"Our goal is to share with the public, both in Cayman and abroad, who we are, what we do, and how to work with us," announced Chief Immigration Officer Franz Manderson.

This, he said, is especially important, given the comprehensive changes that have been made to immigration legislation in the past four years, and the number of far-reaching initiatives to improve customer service delivery at the department and ports.

Immigration also wants to increase public understanding of its vital role in keeping the Islands safe; and in maintaining a prosperous economy by managing migration, in a way that both satisfies employers' needs and protects the interests of Caymanians in the workplace, Mr Manderson explained.
