The Isle of Man government has warned in a statement that the October 6, 2009, deadline for submitting personal tax returns for the fiscal year 2008/09 is nearing.
In the Isle of Man, personal tax returns are due for the year ending April 5, 2009, by October 6, 2009. If tax returns are not received by the Income Tax Division by that deadline, taxpayers will incur a GBP100 penalty. If the return is still not received by April 6, 2010, a further GBP200 will be chargeable.
“The level of the penalties has been increased this year. Even if the penalties are paid, the tax return must still be submitted and people may be prosecuted for failing to do so,” the Isle of Man government said in a statement.
“In recent years there have been large queues at the Income Tax Division office during the final fortnight before the deadline. In order to help people this year our office will open from 8am for the period from September 21, 2009, to October 6, 2009.”
“Individuals are also reminded that they can send in their return form free by post, using the mailing label which was sent out with their return. Alternatively returns can be put through the letterboxes at the front of Central Government Office or on the 2nd floor inside Central Government Office.”
