IFS To Hold Conference On Competitive Tax System

The UK's Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) will hold its Eleventh Residential conference under the title "Building a Competitive Tax System" on 4th and 5th April 2003, at St John's College, Oxford.

Says the IFS: 'UK company taxation has been undergoing considerable change in recent years, as the government has sought to modernise a system built on
nineteenth century foundations and adapt to the changing international tax and trade environment. The last comprehensive government review of company
taxation was in 1983. In a series of consultative documents and technical notes, the current government has made plain its intention to build a competitive business tax system, one that is free from distortion, promotes productivity and is fair. The issues for achieving these objectives in the current international environment are the themes of the eleventh IFS residential conference.'

Places at the conference are limited to approximately 120. Until 31st January the registration fee is £500 plus VAT (for non-members) and £450 plus VAT (for members). From 1st February 2003 the fee becomes £550 plus VAT (for non-members) or £500 plus VAT (for members).
