The Hong Kong Trade and Development Council has announced the staging of the World SME Expo next month, which aims to highlight the advantages of investing in Hong Kong for foreign firms looking to expand into China, and mainland firms looking to invest internationally.
"A lot of mainland entrepreneurs want to visit Hong Kong to understand personally more about the investment and business environment here," observed Mr Lai Ching Hung, Head of TDC's Customer Service, of the event, which is to be held at the Hong Kong Exhibition Centre from November 16 to 18.
According to the TDC, more than 300 international organisations will feature at the event, including trade support service providers, industry associations, government departments, consulates, trade and investment promotion organisations, all offering various support services to small and medium-sized companies with plans to invest.
"We have mobilised colleagues from 11 mainland offices to invite over one thousand traders and representatives from external trade promotion organisations of over 40 mainland cities to participate in the expo,” added Lai Ching Hung.
The TDC expects tens of thousands of people to attend the conference, which will witness a series of seminars, forums and networking opportunities covering a wide base of business issues.
