Hong Kong's total port cargo throughput in the third quarter rose 9% over a year earlier to 67.3 million tonnes, the country's Census and Statistics Department has announced.
Within this total, inward port cargo grew 7% to 37.2 million tonnes, while outward port cargo rose 12% to 30.1 million tonnes.
For the first nine months, total port cargo throughput rose 10% over a year earlier to 198.1 million tonnes. Inward port cargo rose 7% to 111.6 million tonnes, while outward port cargo was up 14% to 86.5 million tonnes.
On a seasonally adjusted quarter-to-quarter comparison, total port cargo throughput recorded virtually no change in the third quarter. Within this total, inward port cargo dropped 1%, while outward port cargo rose 1%.
