Hong Kong is today hosting an economic summit examining ways to boost the jurisdiction's position as a leading trading, finance and logistics centre, in order to create more jobs and improve living standards.
Chief Executive Donald Tsang last week held a meeting with convenors of the summit's four focus groups on trade and business; professional services, information and technology and tourism; financial services; as well as maritime, logistics and infrastructure to exchange views on issues to be raised during the summit and follow-up actions to be taken.
He explained that the summit will discuss how Hong Kong should respond to the challenges and opportunities arising from the Mainland's 11th Five-Year Plan and will come up with a set of strategic proposals.
After the summit, the focus groups will discuss in depth the proposals, with a view to submitting an agenda setting out specific follow-up actions to the Chief Executive by the end of this year.
