Hong Kong's Financial Secretary Henry Tang has appointed 15 members to the Business Facilitation Advisory Committee, a non-official panel which has been given the brief of reporting to the government on the progress of developments to facilitate new business in the territory.
The committee, to be chaired by Anthony Nightingale with Legislative Councillor Emily Lau as deputy chairman is drawn from business, academia, the professions and the Legislative Council. There are also seven official members on the committee.
The committee will also develop and oversee a programme to review government regulations and procedures impacting on business with the aim of eliminating outdated or burdensome regulations on business, enhancing the quality of delivery of government services, and reducing regulatory impact and compliance cost to the business sector.
In addition, the committee will set up and steer task forces to take forward the regulatory reviews or other business facilitation initiatives and examine other relevant areas to facilitate business as appropriate.
