Hong Kong and Kuwait signed a letter of intent to develop bilateral trade relations during Chief Executive Donald Tsang's recent visit to the Middle East.
The letter, covering technical co-operation, facilitation of business visits, trade fairs and exhibitions, and imports and exports, was signed by Hong Kong's Special Representative for Economic & Trade Affairs to the European Communities, Duncan Pescod and Kuwaiti Minister for Trade & Commerce Sheikh Falah Al Hajiri.
Witnessing the signing with Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Mr Tsang suggested that it will lead to development of beneficial relations between the two sides.
Last week, the Chief Executive also met Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait Central Bank Governor Sheikh Salem Abdul Aziz Al-Sabah, and Kuwait National Assembly Acting Speaker Dr Mohammad Al-Busairi.
Mr Tsang ends the Kuwait portion of his Middle East tour on Monday, travelling on to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
