At the MAR Hedge Conference in Bermuda on Monday, the online hedge fund portal, Hedgeworld, announced that it would be launching an online hedge fund supermarket section on its website, making it one of the first financial service providers to do so.
The service, which is initially only open to non-US investors, will provide qualified investors with access to a list of pre-screened hedge funds and prospectuses, with a call centre running in parallel to handle additional questions and queries. According to a Dow Jones report, there will be no transaction fee to pay, as the organisation will be compensated by the hedge fund companies who receive business from the supermarket.
Early next year, Hedgeworld announced to delagates attending the conference, the company hopes to be able to offer the service to individual US investors, and eventually to institutional investors and funds of hedge funds.
