Two of Ireland's leading stockbrokers have announced plans to launch online share dealing services as soon as possible. Davy's online service will be on offer next month and Goodbody says its online share dealing platform could be available to its customers within the week.
A Goodbody spokesman has confirmed that it has virtually concluded tests on its Internet trading systems and the launch of the complete service is imminent, but he refused to reveal to the Irish media any details of fees before the service is unveiled.
According to Davy Direct boss, Jack O'Keefe, the company's online service has taken longer than expected to get up and running and is currently undergoing tests. He also refused to talk about fees but said they would be 'competitive.' He said clients will be able to take advantage of straight through processing with a multi-market and multi-currency offering that will enable investors to access all the major world markets. Some time next month Davy expects to unveil a new investment centre in Dublin where clients can view a demonstration of the new service.
