HM Treasury has announced that Catherine Macleod has been appointed as special adviser to UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling.
Ms. Macleod has been the UK political editor of The Glasgow Herald for the past 8 years, prior to which she worked as a freelance journalist.
According to the Treasury, she will work closely with the Chancellor's existing Special Adviser, Sam White, and members of the Council of Economic Advisers, Andrew Maugham and Emily Thomas, who are employed on Special Adviser terms. Jennifer Gerber is Special Adviser to the Chief Secretary.
