HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has announced the release of updated compliance risk management guidance for Large Business Service (LBS) taxpayers and staff.
First published in December 2007, the guidance set out the principles under which the LBS would deliver tax compliance risk management.
Since then, in consultation with its customers, HMRC has refined its thinking and has just published revised guidance for staff, which forms the backbone of over forty, two day risk management seminars for all customer-facing staff in the LBS.
The seminars began on September 8, 2008 and the programme will continue until the end of October, by which time around 1,200 LBS staff will have been trained in the approach which the Large Business Service now intends to take with both its low risk customers and those who do not yet enjoy that relationship with HMRC.
At the end of the seminar programme any required revisions identified will be incorporated into the guidance and will be published externally for the benefit of customers.
