Hong Kong container ports handled more than 2 million containers in June, up 3.8% over a year earlier, it emerged this week.
Taking the first six months of this year together, container throughput went up 6.6%, to 11.4 million containers.
The SAR's Port Development Council went on to reveal that Kwai Tsing Container Terminals handled 1.31 million containers last month, an 8.7% increase over a year earlier. The throughput of other terminals went down 4.3%, to 700,000 containers.
Taking the first six months together, the throughput of Kwai Tsing Container Terminals - more than 7.4 million containers - went up 8.4% over the same period last year. Other terminals recorded a 3.4% rise, with a throughput of 4 million containers.
