Hong Kong's Chief Executive Donald Tsang and Korean President Lee Myung-bak have agreed that their economies should enhance coordination in implementing stimulus measures and prevent a surge of trade protectionism.
Arriving in Seoul on February 19 for a two-day visit, Mr Tsang met with the President to exchange views on measures the two governments have taken to tackle the financial turmoil.
Mr Tsang stressed Asian economies should step up dialogue on economic and finance matters, and ensure the Asian region's views will be taken into full account when the international community discusses the new international financial order.
Mr Tsang also met Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade Yu Myung-hwan and Minister of Strategy & Finance Yoon Jeung-hyun to explore ways of increasing economic co-operation between the two jurisdictions and in the region as a whole.
