Guernsey is to host a series of six anti-money laundering seminars aimed at senior managers, compliance officers and money laundering reporting officers from within the jurisdiction's financial services sector, according to a report in the Guernsey Press and Star last week.
The meetings, arranged jointly by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and the Financial Intelligence service, will be attended by specialist international speakers, and are intended to update information and procedural advice given at the first set of seminars last year.
'A great deal of care has been taken so that this year's courses cover new ground and build on those held last year,' GFSC Director-General, Peter Neville told the Guernsey Press, adding that: 'They will assist financial services businesses to meet the training requirements of the anti-money laundering regulations.'
Guernsey's updated anti-money laundering laws, due to come into effect at the end of this month, now take account of FATF and EU recommendations made in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
