After six months of hard work, Itex Group in Guernsey has launched one of the largest websites created by a local company. Itex, an offshore IT services group with offices in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, has launched a new interactive website aimed at the Channel Islands' business community.
Paul Marett, managing director of the Itex Group, said: 'This is phase one in the process of re-developing the siteJGY/JJE/ECOM and is a big step forward in that we are now able to interact with our customers via the Internet.'
He went on to explain: 'Our development team has contributed the functionality, business logic and back-end functions and dovetailed them with the graphics produced by e-scape. It has been an interesting and exciting project and we are extremely pleased with the result. Visitors to the site will find it easy to navigate and much more friendly and informative than our previous site. Key contacts are presented with photographs and one of the important benefits at this stage is that our Training customers can now view schedules and book on-line. We are also encouraging customers to register with us so that we can develop e-mail distribution lists which will ensure that they are kept up to date with information that is of particular relevance to them.'
Marcus Ferbrache of the development team commented: 'Our key objective was that the site should make it easier for our customers to find out more about us and work with us. We have been developing highly functional e-business web sites for our customers for some time now and I am glad to see our skills applied to our own. We consider this phase of the site to be a show-piece not only for our skills but to demonstrate the value that business investment in the Internet can bring.'
The site has been created in association with local company e-scape interactive. Its production director Steve Hickson said: 'The combination of our design expertise with the programming skills of the developers at Itex means we have been able to create a site that is both visually exciting and functional. We hope to continue our relationship by developing on-line projects for third party clients in the future.'
Further enhancements are due to be added to the site, including on-line call logging, quotation requests and ordering.
