International hedge fund management and brokerage services company Gottex plans an IPO in Switzerland, the company said this week.

Gottex was founded in 1986 by Joachim Gottschalk, and initially specialized in providing brokerage services in the interest rate derivatives market. In 1992 the company branched out into fund management with Gottex Fund Management, and says it has US$13.3bn as assets under management.

The company has operations in Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, United States, Hong-Kong and Australia, but the fund management company is registered in the British Virgin Islands, while the holding company which is apparently going to stage the IPO is based in Guernsey.

Gottex was ranked Number 1 Swiss Franc interest rate swaps Inter Dealer Broker in 2007 by Risk Magazine, and has won a number of other awards over the years.

The company did not give a timing for its IPO or any reason as to why it might want to raise cash.
