Guernsey FSC Consults On Proposed Changes To Insurance Laws

The Guernsey Financial Services Commission on Friday launched several consultation documents in conjunction with its 2007 review of the jurisdiction's insurance laws.

The consultations relate to:

  • The Insurance Business (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2002;
  • The Insurance Managers and Insurance Intermediaries (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2002;
  • Licensed Insurer's Corporate Governance Code; and
  • Licensed Insurer's Corporate Governance Code Annex 1

These areas have been considered by steering groups and working parties consisting of industry representatives from the captive insurance management sector, life companies, the intermediary sector and the Insurance Division of the Commission.

The Commission is currently seeking written feedback from insurance licensees on changes to the aforementioned legislation.

The closing date for feedback is 16th May 2007.
