The Commerce and Employment Department of the States of Guernsey announced on Wednesday that Mark Whiteley has been appointed as Guernsey Company Registrar (Designate).
Mr Whiteley is currently Executive Board member and Director of Corporate Services at the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC), where his responsibilities include being an appointed Assistant Registrar of Companies.
He has previously held senior positions at some of the leading international financial institutions working across Europe in locations including London, Paris and Munich.
Mr Whiteley will be taking up his new position during the summer, and will oversee the establishment and implementation of the new, modernised Company Registry, which will open in Q3 2008.
Deputy Stuart Falla, Minister of the Commerce and Employment Department, explained that:
“The establishment and implementation of a modernised Company Registry is an integral part of the work that the Department has initiated to develop improved infrastructure for the finance sector."
“We are very pleased indeed that Mark Whiteley will become the new Company
Registrar. He brings with him a wealth of expertise gained in a number of senior
positions at some of the leading international financial institutions in the
UK and Europe. Importantly he also has first hand experience in the Jersey Company
Registry and this experience will be important in setting up our new Guernsey
Registry."
“We look forward to Mark joining us as soon as possible to lead the work
being undertaken on the establishment and implementation of the modernised Guernsey
Registry, in 2008.”
