Senior officials from Grenada’s Ministry of Finance have updated representatives of the business community on the present state of the local economy, with a particular focus on developments since Hurricane Ivan.
The meeting, which was also attended by Minister of Finance Anthony Boatswain, covered a wide range of economic issues, according to a government statement.
Specifically, the discussions centred on government revenue generation, housing, restructuring of the public debt, improving productivity, diversification of the economy, management of government capital projects, upgrading of the construction sector and national management policies.
In the coming weeks, the Ministry of Finance stated its intention to make similar presentations to various stakeholders including the insurance and banking sectors, public officers, the National Council for Reconstruction & Development and the Sustainable Development Council.
The government announced that it is also keen to use these meetings as an opportunity to consult with the business sector on the National Budget, due to be unveiled in March.
