Business and financial adviser, Grant Thornton has won two awards at the LexisNexis Taxation Awards 2008, with its Manchester office picking up Best Tax Team in a Large Firm and Francesca Lagerberg, Head of the firm's National Tax Office, winning Tax Lecturer of the Year.

The LexisNexis Taxation Awards, now in their eighth year, recognise the achievements of tax professionals across the UK.

The awards have become one of the tax sector's leading ceremonies to celebrate the achievements of UK tax professionals, whether they work for multinational companies or practice as independent advisers.

John Loebl, Head of the Manchester Tax Team, stated that:

"The awards are recognised as real marks of excellence within the tax sector. The win is testament to the Manchester Tax Team's holistic approach, the pioneering technical solutions that we deliver to our clients and the commitment and dedication of the team to provide the best possible client service."

Francesca Lagerberg, Head of the National Tax Office, commented on her win:

"I am delighted to have won this award. I feel very privileged to be in a position where I can update and support tax professionals while doing something I really enjoy."

Rob Withecombe, Head of Tax, went on to add:

"The firm is building an impressive track record at the LexisNexis Taxation Awards. In 2006, the London Corporate and International Tax team won the Best Tax team in a large firm and in 2007 the Birmingham Entrepreneur and Private Client team won the award for best High Net Worth Team."

"Francesca and the Manchester team should be proud of these awards, they are proof of their, and the firm's constant drive for excellence and the breadth and depth of our tax expertise. The team awards are particularly competitive categories and winning in these categories in successive years is an exceptional achievement."
