Accounting firm Grant Thornton announced this week that it has appointed Peter Gamson as the new Head of its Professional Practices Group. This move comes as the former head, Roger Zair, retired at the end of 2007, after 33 years with the firm.
Michael Cleary, Chief Executive of Grant Thornton, observed that:
"Roger has made an enormous contribution to the firm over his 33 years with Grant Thornton and to the development of our offering to the professional services sector."Mr Gamson has been with the firm for nine years and currently works across a number of clients in different sectors including consultancy, legal, accounting, surveyor, architecture, patent attorney and consulting engineer firms.
Based in the London office of Grant Thornton, his immediate focus will be to continue to grow the practice and broaden the service offering to these firms, many of whom are in the process of changing their structure, and have a clear need for advisor services around retention of talent, raising finance and streamlining their operations.
Mr Gamson concluded:
"The last few years have been an exciting period for professional service firms, and the pace of change shows little sign of abating. Increasing our strategic offering in the market place and continuing to offer practical solutions for people-centre businesses will be a key focus for us over the coming months."
