As telecommunications liberalisation is being implemented in Gibraltar, informed industry sources have revealed that there are a number of businesses operating in Gibraltar as yet unlicensed, although allowed to operate by the Government who are reported not to have impeded their business operations in the knowledge that licenses will be given once the procedures are in place.
The delays have raised concern within the industry who have indicated that the numbers of businesses looking towards acquiring telecommunications licenses is increasing, although the delays are seeing businesses having to delay expansion plans as their operations cannot be publicised due to fears that the licenses will later not be granted.
