A report in the Gibraltar Chronicle last Friday revealed that the government has partially transposed into local law a European Union Directive on mutual recognition of professional qualifications.
“Gibraltar has partly transposed European Directive 2001/19” confirmed a Gibraltar government spokesman, according to the Chronicle.
“This was achieved though the Recognition of Professional Qualifications Ordinance (amendment) Ordinance 2003 passed in the House of Assembly on 28 July 2003,” the spokesman added.
The move occurred as a result of the Commission’s decision to bring the UK before the European Court of Justice for its failure, in the case of the territory of Gibraltar, to notify measures transposing this directive.
