The Offshore Group of Banking Supervisors (OGBS) and the Offshore Group of Insurance Supervisors (OGIS) are to hold their 2001 meetings in Gibraltar. This is the first time that the two groups will meet concurrently in the same jurisdiction.
The meetings will be hosted by the Financial Services Commission with the support of the Government of Gibraltar. It is anticipated that around 80 delegates from all major offshore financial centres will travel to Gibraltar for the meetings, which are scheduled to take place in June 2001.
Martin Fuggle, Financial Services Commissioner, said: 'Bringing the two groups together for this type of combined gathering is an important initiative for the offshore supervisory world, particularly given the range of international supervisory issues and developments we all face. The FSC is pleased that OGBS and OGIS have agreed to come to Gibraltar for this occasion'.
