25 February 2005

The Gibraltar government announced that it had hosted a seminar in Manchester on Thursday, in association with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

The seminar provided a showcase for Gibraltar’s financial services sector, focusing on trusts and private client work.

Issues addressed by the various speakers included: Gibraltar as an European financial services centre; the regulatory environment; the fiduciary industry and the product range for trusts in Gibraltar; the legal basis for Gibraltar trusts; opportunities for residency in Gibraltar; the use of trusts by residents of civil law countries; and private wealth management.

The delegation from Gibraltar which attended the meeting at Manchester's Radisson Edwardian Hotel comprised senior accountancy and legal professionals, and was led by James Tipping, Finance Centre Director for the Government of Gibraltar.
