Germany's Justice Minister has come out in defence of the recently finalized draft law obliging CEOs and other board members of German companies to disclose their individual salaries in annual reports.
Speaking to reporters this week, Brigitte Zypries argued that shareholders have the right to know the salaries of board members, observing that:
"If they are doing their job properly, then they can also reveal their salaries."
Under the current system, the majority of firms only disclose the total amounts received by the management board, without providing a breakdown of those figures.
