by Philip Morton, InvestorsOffshore.com

13 April 2001

The 15th Transcontinental Trusts Conference - Are You Ready For The Brave New World? will take place on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 June 2001 at the Hotel des Bergues, in Geneva, Switzerland. Organised by IBC UK Conferences, the event includes an optional third day on Wednesday 20 June which will focus on e-business, private banking and trusts.

Special guest speakers at the conference include Frank Mullen, Vice Chairman of the OECD's Committe on Fiscal Affairs; Dr Heinz Frommelt, a former Liechtenstein Minister of Justice; Colin Powell, Chairman of the Jersey Financial Services Commission and Andrew Edwards, author of the famous Edwards Report on the Crown dependencies.

A marketing release for the conference said: 'The world of offshore business is at a critical crossroads as the OECD in particular has threatened the status quo of many offshore jurisdictions and consequently the world of international trusts. We are therefore very pleased to announce that Frank Mullen of the OECD will be giving their viewpoint at the conference. We will also examine the issues that are facing the offshore financial centres, scrutinise various jurisdictions' responses and discuss emerging issues for fiduciaries. In particular there will be special talks on Liechtenstein and Singapore.'

It continued: 'There have also been an astonishing number of changes in trust law and initiatives, which affect international trustees, and Professor David Hayton will address these. There are other new areas where developments are taking place ranging from the involvement by trustees in the proceeds of bribery and corruption to how trustees must handle the Internet and new corporate regulatory initiative, which Andrew Edwards will discuss.'

Bookings for both the two-day Transcontinental Trusts Conference and the optional extra day are subject to a £100 discount. Further details are available at http://www.ibc-uk.com/transtrusts/?source=td1100pr1
