Swissquote Group, the Swiss financial services portal, is hailing the impending launch of its e-banking venture as 'a new era'. The group said this week that Swissquote Bank will be launched soon, but gave no date.
Swissquote said the new e-bank 'puts the best Internet technology at your service, to offer you solutions which are perfectly adapted to your needs.' In fact, Swissquote Bank offers a secure and simple user platform for stock trading on the Swiss Exchange, Nasdaq, the New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange. Other trading environments will be proposed soon after the launch of Swissquote Bank. Trading orders may also be made by telephone at no extra charge.
The online bank will also offer the buying and selling of investment funds, in real time, at 'highly competitive prices and issued by renowned establishments', according to the group. In addition, a multilingual Call Centre will be available to answer any queries or help investors 'optimise the use of Swissquote Bank functionnalities.'
A statement from Swissquote said: 'In the first quarter of 2001, the Swissquote Group successfully completed the preparatory work for the imminent launch of Swissquote Bank. For the most part, it drew on its own resources and competencies in the areas of Internet technology and banking. By completing the first Internet bank in Swizerland on time and within budget, Swissquote Group – and its fully owned subsidiary Marvel Communications Ltd - has demonstrated its ability to implement highly complex Internet projects successfully. Swissquote Bank's Internet platform (http://bank.swissquote.ch) will enable clients to manage their assets actively and individually, while giving them simple and cost-effective access to professional financial services.'
