The French pilots union, SNPL, has voiced its outrage at the government's decision to divert the funds from a new tax on air tickets away from enhancing security for which it was originally intended.
'We are furious with the government, because the new tax on air tickets which was supposed to be used for security measures has been diverted away from that purpose,' said SNPL president Jean-Pierre Facchetti.
He added that just Ffr220 million was allocated to security out of the total Ffr1.75 billion that was raised from the tax hike but it is unclear as to what the remainder of the money will be spent on.
