The Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department announced last week that it will be co-hosting a symposium on intellectual property issues on January 27 and 28.
Organised by the IP department in conjunction with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong, the Comite Colbert and the Union des Fabricants, the symposium will hear from speakers including government officials, IP professionals, and trademark owners from France, Hong Kong, and the Chinese mainland.
Speaking with regard to the forthcoming symposium, Hong Kong's Director of Intellectual Property, Stephen Selby observed that:
"Intellectual assets can be more valuable than a company's physical assets. I am keen to stress the role of intellectual property protection as a tool for business development. I believe the symposium will benefit the business sector in the region and enhance our position in international trade."
