It was announced last week that the inaugural STEP Crown Dependency conference will be hosted jointly by the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey branches of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) in London on 6 March 2008.
The event will provide the first ever opportunity for trust professionals to hear from all three STEP branches together on legal, regulatory, and tax issues facing trustees.
Lord Walker of Gestingthorpe is the keynote speaker for the conference, which will take place at the QEII Conference Centre in London.
John Rimmer, Chair of STEP Isle of Man revealed that:
“All three branches are excited by this new opportunity to showcase, network and demonstrate our mutual support. This conference will be an important date in the diary for private client advisors who do business in the Crown Dependencies or want to see what we have to offer.”
He continued:
“We have designed this conference so that it is of interest to practitioners in the private client sector whether in the Dependencies themselves or those who work with and advise trustees in the UK and elsewhere,” said STEP Jersey Chairman Simon Morgan. “Trusts are a key area in all three jurisdictions and we at STEP recognise the importance of working together on matters of interest to us all.”
Alison MacKrill, Chair of STEP Guernsey, added:
"Each of the Crown Dependencies will continue to develop as distinct - and sometimes competing – jurisdictions, but those who work in the fiduciary sector recognise that it is of benefit to come together to discuss issues which affect us all. This inaugural conference will provide an excellent opportunity for such discussion to take place for providers and advisers alike.”
