The first real-time financial alert service is being launched today (Wednesday) in the UK, Germany and Spain providing investors with e-mail, mobile or pager access to all European and major US stock exchanges. Entitled PrimAlert, the service sends personalised financial alerts via SMS from online brokers and banks to the subscribers, such as real-time alerts when a stock reaches a predefined value, or the value changes rapidly or when new analyst information is released. Investors can also receive stock quotations several times a day.
The new service is the result of a joint collaboration between MobileWay, a leading provider of global wireless access and content distribution over mobile telephones, and Alertim, a specialist in real-time personalised alert broadcasting.
In a press release Thomas Gyeman, CEO of Alertim, explained: 'MobileWay offers direct connections to mobile network operators worldwide which is helping us to develop our alert services on a global scale. Its SMS platform guarantees a real-time service with the best international coverage.'
He added: 'We also benefit from MobileWay's international presence becuase it provides a major sales channel for Alertim in Europe, North America and Asia.'
First launched in France as BoursAlerte in 1999, the service is targeted at financial institutions worldwide, network operators, mobile and Internet portals and individuals; facilitators of the service so far include online brokers such as the Fimatex from both their UK and Spanish operations, UK-based Self Trade, and France-based Consors. Banks include Natexis-Banques Populaires, Crédit Mutuel, CIC and Zebank.
Information can be sent in any one of seven languages: French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Catalan and Dutch. By the end of the year investors in the US and Canada will also have access to the service. By Spring 2002, it is expected that PrimAlert will become a global SMS alert service providing an extension to the Asian stock exchange.
Christian Baumhauer, CEO of MobileWay, stated: 'Our partnership with Alertim provides an answer to the ever-growing demand for real-time value added alert services. Alertim's offering and expertise on financial alerts is unrivalled in the financial world. We are confident that operators, portals and financial institutions worldwide will be interested in offering these services to their customers or subscribers.'
