First BitTorrent Copyright Case Sees HK Man Jailed

It emerged this week that a Hong Kong man has received a custodial sentence in the world's first copyright case involving BitTorrent file-sharing software.

Chan Nai-ming was convicted of uploading "Daredevil", "Miss Congeniality" and "Red Planet" for others to download, and was sentenced to three months in prison.

BitTorrent has gained in popularity recently as a result of its speed, and has begun to attract the scrutiny of the music and film industries worldwide.
