The Finnish government has announced that it will enforce a 10% increase in tax on alcoholic beverages, in a move which will bolster government coffers by EUR65m annually.
The tax on all alcoholic beverages will be raised by 10% at the beginning of 2009 and will mean that retail prices for alcoholic beverages will go up by an average of 4.5%.
This change in taxation means that the price of a bottle of beer will go up by an average of EUR0.04, a bottle of wine by an average of EUR0.22 and a bottle of vodka by an average of EUR0.75.
