Credit Suisse Private Banking has been awarded a top accolade by FinanceAsia, the Hong Kong-based financial magazine covering the Asia-Pacific region, which named it the Best Private Bank for the second year in a row.
FinanceAsia presented the Best Private Bank of 2000 award to Credit Suisse Private Banking for its "very high level of service, common sense advice and excellently tailored investment counselling". The FinanceAsia jury also praised Credit Suisse Private Banking for the quality of its wealth planning and tax advice, the clarity and high standard of its investment proposals and its willingness to offer clients third-party funds. According to the judges, Credit Suisse Private Banking "did the best job of listening to what the client wanted".
The year 2000 was certainly a good year for Credit Suisse Private Banking. In the latter months, it finalised its acquisition of the UK premier investment manager JO Hambro Investment Management Ltd, and announced its intention to focus private banking on onshore, non-Swiss operations, because of the surge in popularity of onshore private banking.
