According to an Iberia News report on Friday, further job losses in Gibraltar's financial services sector are feared following rumours that Barclays Bank is considering restructuring its Rock-based operation.
Citing a Gibraltar Chronicle report, the news service announced that representatives from UNIFI, the UK finance sector union which represents employees of the bank, are scheduled to meet with Barclays branch directors early next month.
The Iberia News report went on to reveal that: 'In the meantime, further reports have emerged indicating that a second bank is already looking at moving away from Gibraltar. Finance centre sources have indicated that the bank in question could be making a public announcement before the end of the month, with further job losses within the banking industry expected.'
