In an interview with the Legal Week news service this week, UK Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer hinted that once the preferred model for reform of the legal services sector has been selected, the government is likely to 'fast track' the process, possibly pushing through legislation as early as next year.
"I do not think that you can go on for too long with a sense that there is change in the air - you have got to actually bring the debate to an end, identify what you have to do and then do it," he explained, continuing:
"We will respond as soon as we reasonably can and it is bound to require legislation."
According to Legal Week, this is the first time that Lord Falconer has officially committed himself to the speedy implementation of the reforms, due to be announced at the end of this year.
