The FTSE Group has announced that it is to launch a hedge fund index, to be known as FTSE Hedge, from April this year.
The new index will be comprised of forty funds and will allow managers to create funds based on the index from the same date.
All major hedge fund strategies will be included in the new index, which will be calculated on a daily basis. However, only funds with a two-year track record, and meeting strict audit requirements, will be represented.
A list of the funds that will feature on the new index is to be announced in April.
