An FATF delegation, comprising representatives from the United States, France, Germany and Switzerland has arrived in Moscow to carry out a review of the country's anti-money laundering procedures, according to a Pravda report released on Monday.
Speaking to the news service earlier this week, the Russian Financial Monitoring Committee (FMC) suggested that the seven day visit and subsequent report 'may become a ground for excluding Russia from the FATF blacklist, comprising countries that do not fight with money laundering.'
The FMC also hinted that a number of large scale anti-money laundering investigations may be about to come to fruition, leading to major disclosures of financial corruption. Committee chief, Viktor Zubkov also revealed to Pravda that the Russian montitoring body has been in constant contact with the FATF regarding new and ongoing initiatives.
