A recently released report has revealed that UAE nationals account for just 9% of the workforce in Dubai's private sector, according to the Gulf News service.
The report - which excludes government departments and international organisations - showed that Asian expatriates make up some 80.56% of the Emirate's workforce, with European workers accounting for 2.01% of workers.
According to the Gulf News analysis of the government figures, this means that of the approximately 437,248 people working in Dubai's 37,775 organisations, 381,500 are Asian expats, 36,027 are Arab expatriates, and 9,527 are European workers. The number of UAE nationals working in the city has been estimated at around 6,569.
The local newspaper went on to report that some 26,973 expatriate workers live outside the city.
