Ivari Padar, the Estonian Minister of Finance, has announced that planned cuts to income tax are likely to be delayed.
Mr Padar made his announcement late last week following a cabinet meeting, and proposed putting off the cuts until the country joins the eurozone.
“We will delay lowering of the income tax. We will decide, how long should this be postponed. It is my proposal that tax amendments be postponed until the Euro will be adopted,” he announced.
The minister explained that the delays were the result of inter-coalition disagreements over the form and extent of the tax cuts.
"The exceptional rates on value added tax are still unresolved and (so is) the extent to which they should be implemented,” said Padar.
