The Azerbaijani and Estonian tax and customs departments entered into a memorandum of understanding on April 27. The document will enhance cooperation in the area of tax administration as well as building effective communication in the fight against tax avoidance.
The document was signed by Azerbaijani Minister of Taxes Fazil Mammadov and Director General of the Estonian Taxes and Customs Board Enrico Aav.
During the Estonian delegation’s visit to Baku, several topics of joint interest were discussed. In particular the two parties' discussions focused around Azerbaijan’s recent reforms, which were recognised by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation in 2008.
The two delegations also discussed the use of the Internet in order to facilitate the payment of taxes as well as E-audits.
