Emirates Shipping Line has announced its participation in the AUX service, adding to its portfolio a scheduled service connecting major ports in China with the United States East Coast.
Emirates Shipping Line, which was launched in early 2006 by Vikas M Khan, has acquired space on the AUX service (operated by Zim and Italia Marittima SpA) as of 21 November 2006.
“The AUX service will provide our customers with the fastest direct links between two of the world’s most dynamic regions: Eastern China and the East Coast of the United States," said Khan, who is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Emirates Shipping Line.
"Through the intermodal gateways at Wilmington and Savannah we can provide a seamless connection to the east coast of the US and beyond,” he added.
The AUX service provides one the few direct calls linking Qingdao and Shanghai with Florida, and the fastest direct link between Qingdao and Savannah (Georgia), a primary rail freight gateway to the eastern US seaboard and inland.
The port rotation of AUX is Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao, Colon, Kingston, Port Everglades, Savannah, Wilmington, Kingston, Colon, Shanghai.
The calls at Kingston and Colon provide for transhipment to Central America and Caribbean ports.
Emirates Shipping Line is registered in the Dubai Maritime City and commercially headquartered in the global shipping hubs of Dubai and Hong Kong.
