Officials from the European Union (EU) and South Korea have met in Seoul to begin their eighth round of negotiations on an impending Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
It is expected that this latest round of talks will be the last, concluding discussions which began nearly two years ago.
Once introduced, the FTA will remove 96% of the tariffs levied on goods from the EU and 99% of those imposed on products from South Korea by 2012.
It will also abolish the tariffs levied on the majority of automobiles by 2014.
If the FTA is formalized at the end of the two-day talks, then it could be implemented by the end of May.
